    If, as the saying goes, you are what you eat, then the average American is a Grade A, blue-ribbon hog. That, at any rate, is one of the takeaways from "Big Food: Health, Culture and the Evolution of Eating," a brilliantly conceived exhibition that will be up for most of 2012 at Yale's Peabody Museum of Natural History. It is such a timely, intelligent and entertaining exhibit &mdash; for all ages &mdash; that it should be mounted, as a sort of antidote, in every town with a McDonald's and/or Dunkin' Donuts and, out of civic duty, every American should see it.

    Treat yourself to a two-day celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this week, if you're still looking for a way to spend his holiday. The Yale Peabody Museum is hosting its 16th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Legacy of Environmental and Social Justice event on Sunday and Monday, and it's free! Sunday features live music in the Great Hall of Dinosaurs, a "Unity &amp; Community" teen summit and storytelling in the North American Dioramas exhibit. On Monday, the Great Hall of Dinosaurs sees a slew of Works Stage Performances, including New Haven Breakdancers and traditional West African drumming, and the annual Invitiational Zannette Lewis Environmental and Social Justice Poetry Slam will be under way in the third floor auditorium.
