Despite being a rookie, Justin Tucker ranks third in the NFL in field-goal percentage (93.5) and seventh in points (127). It wasn’t enough, however, for the Ravens kicker to earn a Pro Bowl invitation. The Cleveland Browns’ Phil Dawson, who leads the league in field-goal percentage (96.6), got was selected as the AFC's kicker.
Ravens special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg said Tucker could become a regular Pro Bowler if he maintains his consistency and productivity.
“I really don’t know how the Pro Bowl voting goes. I don’t see the tallies or anything like that, but I think Justin’s had a tremendous year, and it’s only his first year,” Rosburg said Thursday afternoon. “I think the guy that made it has long been deserving of a Pro Bowl berth. Phil Dawson has been a great kicker in this league for a long time. The fact that this is his first time in the Pro Bowl, I think Justin understands that it’s not an easy honor to get. And if he keeps performing like he has been performing, Justin will be in Pro Bowls down the road. The good news is Justin understands that he’s in the playoffs and he’s in the AFC [North] champion’s locker room. That’s always a good thing.”
