Mercedes-Benz Superdome, 1500 Poydras Street, New Orleans, LA 70112, USA
And Sunday night, he accounted for two touchdowns, including a 108-yard kickoff return on the first play of the second half as the Ravens pulled out a 34-31 victory against the San Francisco 49ers at the Mercedez-Benz Superdome to capture the franchise's second Super Bowl title.
A native of New Orleans, Jones provided a spark for the Ravens the way he has all season.
Before the lights went out in the Superdome in the third quarter, Jones lit up the 49ers return unit to tie a Super Bowl record for longest kickoff return.
An invaluable offseason pickup for the Ravens, Jones boosted a special teams unit that was among the worst in the NFL in 2011. Sunday's 108-yard return wasn't even his first of the season; he tied an NFL record during the regular season by running back a kick against theDallas Cowboyson Oct. 14.
During the regular season, Jones became the first Raven to post multiple kickoff return touchdowns in a season. He is the only player in NFL history to have two kickoff returns for touchdowns of at least 105 yards. He added a 63-yard punt return for a touchdown this season.
The stellar performance led to a Pro Bowl nod for Jones, the first in his six-year career.
In the postseason, Jones also gave the Ravens an added bonus on the offensive end. Against Denver, Jones got behind the defense and caught in a 70-yard touchdown with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime against the Broncos in the AFC divisional round. The Ravens went on to win the game, 38-35, in the second overtime.
On Sunday, Jones came up with another big play, a 56-yard grab in the middle of the field in the second quarter that was his only catch of the game. Joe Flacco launched a pass down the middle of the field, but Jones had to come back to get it. He fell down but was untouched as he got up and scampered to the end zone to give the Ravens a 21-3 lead with 1:45 left in the half.
