  3. Loyola Academy alum Aylin Bayramoglu has 'Glee'-ful hopes for her career

The list of reality shows Aylin Bayramoglu has auditioned for unsuccessfully is a long one: “American Idol,” “The X Factor,” “American Juniors,” “America's Got Talent,” “The Sing-Off” and “The Glee Project.” And yet, that didn't stop the Loyola Academy alum from trying out for “The Glee Project's” second season last November at McCormick Place, just like she did for the first.

  15. Chicago is mostly banished at Obama party

"Hello, Chicago," said the city's newly elected hometown president, speaking to ecstatic Grant Park celebrants four years ago this week amid a backdrop of iconic Midwestern skyscrapers, shimmering in red, white and blue. After Barack Obama's victory rally in 2008, huge crowds of jubilant Chicagoans streamed up Michigan Avenue on an impossibly balmy night. For those of us watching their progression from the sidewalk outside Tribune Tower, the tug of history being made was acute. It felt like something had shifted in the very foundation of Chicago, which suddenly seemed like the center of the new political world. Already there had been speculation as to how a city would have to make some serious adjustments.

  19. Motor Row memories

When Henry Ford arrived by train in Chicago's Central Station in 1905, he was just steps from the South Michigan Avenue site that would be his first store outside Detroit. His new plan to sell automobiles from bright showrooms would change Chicago and America — and transform a quiet city neighborhood into the largest and most glamorous concentration of auto dealerships in the country.

  23. Sighting: Obama's McCormick Place rally leaves celeb supporters star-struck

Barack Obama once again seemed to have a firm grip on the Hollywood vote during this year's election, so it's no surprise that stars came out to support the president Tuesday at his election night rally at McCormick Place. And because, to them, there was no cooler place on the planet to be than Obama's rally, many of those stars just had to tell the world via Twitter that they were there.
