A 77-year-old Schaumburg man is accused of offering a 9-year-old girl money to allow him to perform a sex act with her at a park Sunday, police said.
A judge in the Cook County courthouse in Rolling Meadows set bail at $50,000 this morning for Paul R. Duke, of the 2200 block of Pennview Lane, according to a statement from the Schaumburg police.
Police were called to Knollwood Drive and Pennview Lane Sunday at 2:46 p.m. after someone reported a suspicious person approaching children, the statement said.
Duke was detained following interviews with witnesses and he was brought to the police station where police continued their investigation.
Duke is accused of approaching a 9-year-old girl in a park and offering her money to allow him to perform a sex act with her, the statement said.
The child ran to a family friend who had accompanied her to the park, the statement said. The child was not physically harmed.
