Smoke inhalation left a man in serious-to-critical condition following a fire Monday night in the Bronzeville neighborhood, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

A woman also sustained minor burns and jumped from somewhere inside the three-story building, according to the fire department. She was listed in good condition.

Paramedics took both people to the University of Chicago Hospitals from the blaze, which broke out in a boarded-up building in the 4800 block of South Indiana Avenue.

The man was reported to be in his 50s, and the woman's age was not immediately known.
