A Chicago police squad car was struck by a car that may have been fleeing a crime in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, according to authorities and witnesses.
Three people, including a police officer, were hurt in the crash in the 7500 block of South Union Avenue at about 9:25 p.m., police said.
The officer was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released, police said. The two others were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, said Officer Hector Alfaro, a police spokesman.
According to preliminary police reports, the squad car may have been struck by a car that was fleeing a crime.
Police had a fourth person in custody, but it was unclear why that person was being held, according to Alfaro.
The crash was being investigated by the police Major Accident Investigation Unit, authorities firstname.lastname@example.org
