Property taxes appeals surge
Dismayed that property taxes on her Rogers Park home kept going up despite a sinking real estate market, Aparna Sen-Yeldandi asked a friend to review her tax bill. She was stunned to learn that although she had lived in the residence for nearly 20 years she wasn't getting a homeowner's exemption, a reduction due every owner occupying a residence for at least a year.
