"Celebrate the Difference" is a benefit dinner and concert that will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 29 at Camp Harmony, 1414 Plank Road, Hooversville.
The event will increase awareness of the plight of the children in Honduras. Honduras is a Third World country where natural disasters, extreme poverty, gang warfare and political unrest leave children struggling for survival.
The proceeds from the event will be given to El Hogar de Niños Emanuel (The Emanuel Children's Home), a privately-run children's home in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Currently, the home is giving refuge to 74 children ranging in age from infancy to 18. Recently it opened a kindergarten school that enables it to reach out to children in the neighboring community.
The Emanuel Children's Home also serves as a Giving Partner with Toms Shoes One For One™ Giving Program that helps to distribute shoes to many other schools and children's homes throughout the country.
A full sit-down meal will be served followed with a concert performed by "Anderson Grove," a contemporary Christian band from the Pittsburgh area. In attendance will be one of the children living at the Emanuel Children's Home. Also in attendance will be the founder, Chet Thomas and the executive director, Vivian Chahin.
This event is being sponsored by the Emanuel Children's Home Board of Directors and the Western Pennsylvania District Church of the Brethren's Mission Program. Donations and ticket reservations can be made with an RSVP per person to Western Pennsylvania District Church of the Brethren, 115 Spring Road, Hollsopple, PA 15935 or by contacting Rona Hemminger at 540-649-3111, email: email@example.com.
