Ryan Gerney is the Boswell Lions Club "Senior of the Month" for December.
He is the son of Mark and Janis Gerney of Stoystown
The Lions Club award is based on scholarship, citizenship, and activities in the school and community. He will be presented with a plaque by the Lions at its dinner meeting this month.
Gerney is enrolled in the honors/college prep course at North Star High School. He is vice president of the National Honor Society, and a member of chorus, chorale, Constellations singing group, concert band, marching band, and the golf team. In addition, he participates in the school's annual spring musical production.
A piano accompanist, Gerney is a member of the Somerset County Community Band. In his spare time he enjoys skiing, biking, tennis and geo-caching.
His future plans are to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania for music education, majoring in clarinet and minoring in piano.
