Tuesday: 7 p.m. book study
Wednesday: 9 a.m. sewing, 9 a.m. to noon pastor's office hours, noon and 6 p.m. Lenten meal, 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. Lenten devotions, 7 p.m. choir practice
Friday: 9 to 11 a.m. food pantry open
Middlecreek COB
On this first Sunday of Lent, the Middlecreek Church of the Brethren will begin a series of messages centered on the theme "Because He Lives." The Rev. Linda Stoner will speak on "Joy Because He Lives." The message is based on Nehemiah 9-11 and John 16:19 and 20. The Rev. John Stoner will serve as worship leader.
Classes will take place in the social hall during the Sunday school hour for those interested in church membership. Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday. The church is at 226 Middlecreek Road, Rockwood.
First Christian Church (FCC)
This week First Christian Church welcomes guest preacher Dane Cramer to the pulpit. His sermon title will be "Seeing as God Sees."
Sunday worship is held at 8 a.m. contemporary service and 10:45 a.m. traditional service. FCC also offers many different Sunday school classes for all ages which begins at 9:40 a.m.
On Sunday evenings the junior and senior high youth group meets from 5:30 to 8 p.m., adult Bible study is held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and Kick Start for ages 2–11 is held from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
First Christian Church provides a staffed nursery during Sunday services and Sunday school and ample parking is available in the many lots surrounding the church at 139 E. Main St., Somerset. www.somersetfirstchristian.org.
Bethany UMC
The Rev. Barry Ritenour's sermon title is "Suffering and the Bible" based on Isaiah 62:1-5 and Romans 8:18-27. Bethany worship begins at 9 a.m. with Christian education opportunities for all ages at 10:15 a.m. Children's activities on Sunday include a children's moment then the children attend their own children's church in the basement, where worship is geared to them.
