I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who donated to the recent holiday food drive I held at my constituent service office.
My sincerest gratitude goes out to all of the local residents, organizations and companies who donated items and helped make this food drive a success, especially Foodland in Nanty Glo, Giant Eagle on Goucher Street, Randy's Bi Lo of Windber and my staff.
Additionally, I would like to thank the Somerset Daily American for helping us to get the word out.
Local residents and businesses donated approximately 20 boxes of non-perishable food items, which included over 1,500 canned goods, to two local food pantries. Cash and gift cards were also donated.
As you may know, food banks often run low during the holiday season when demand is high.
Your donations helped make the holidays a little brighter for many of our less fortunate neighbors, and your generosity is truly appreciated.
