Jim Walsh, a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Security Studies Program, is recognized as an international expert in terrorism and security. Walsh is to deliver a lecture March 12 at 7 p.m. in Mount Aloysius' Alumni Hall.
Mount Aloysius President Tom Foley said that Walsh's visit is particularly timely with current tension in the Middle East.
"Jim Walsh's visit will shed light on the subtle and unsubtle dynamics between Iran and her neighbors and explore the implications of recent rhetoric coming from the new leader of North Korea," Foley said.
The lecture is aimed at providing a context where people can search for ethical understanding and insight regarding their world.
Walsh is to also have discussions with Mount Aloysius students during his visit. His research and writings focus on international security and, in particular, topics involving nuclear weapons and terrorism. He has appeared in many news programs and newspapers as a terrorism consultant.
