On tap Friday night in Peninsula District hoops, which promises to see more separation in the standings.

BOYS GAME OF THE NIGHT

Heritage (10-7, 8-6) at Kecoughtan (15-3, 13-1). Nobody is hotter right now than the Hurricanes, who have won seven consecutive games to pull into a tie for fourth place in standings. Heritage is the consummate team with just about everyone contributing something. F Romello Anderson (14.3 ppg) is steady, and with 6-4 Corey White and 6-3 Troy Gibson, the Canes have decent size. Kecoughtan’s Rodney Bullock (22.2 ppg), the probable PD Player of the Year, has been outstanding all year and  particularly of late. PG Marcell Hasket is coming off a career-high 20 point night at Bethel.

Others  on the docket:

Phoebus (10-6, 9-4) at Woodside (10-7, 8-6). Though alone in third place, the Phantoms are somehow flying below the radar.

Bethel (9-8, 7-6) at Warwick (5-11, 3-10). The Bruins had  won three straight before Tuesday’s 29-point home loss to Kecoughtan.

Gloucester (0-18, 0-14) at Denbigh (4-13, 3-11). A 60-56 loss to the Patriots last month is the closest  the Dukes  have come to a PD win.

Menchville (7-9, 5-8) at Hampton (14-4, 12-2). The Crabbers have  won three in a row by an average margin of 28 points.

GIRLS GAME OF THE NIGHT

Bethel (11-6, 8-5) at Warwick (7-9, 6-7). The first meeting between these teams went down to the wire — the Raiders won 50-49 on Shaneya Cromwell’s late basket. Bethel is  currently tied for fourth in the standings with Warwick solidly in sixth. The Bruins are led by probable All-PD pick in Keli Foster (13.6 ppg), one of the district’s top 3-point shooters. The Raiders have the one-two punch of Ylexus Traeger (12.4 ppg) and freshman Adria Strothers (11.7 ppg).

Others  on the docket:

Gloucester (8-10, 4-10) at Denbigh (0-17, 0-14). The Dukes should get their fifth district win behind Cheyenne Land (11.1 ppg).

Heritage (4-14, 4-10) at Kecoughtan (16-2, 13-1). The Hurricanes  will  need a win to keep pace with Gloucester in seventh place.

Menchville (2-14, 2-11) at Hampton (11-6, 10-4). Crabbers F Dara Pearson is coming off a 43-point night against  Denbigh.

Phoebus (9-5, 8-5) at Woodside (17-1, 13-1). The Wolverines should cruise in their tune-up for Saturday’s showdown vs. Kecoughtan.
