5. What will $200,000 buy in a new home?

Yes, mortgage interest rates remain near historic lows. True, there's a wide variety of inventory for sale to choose from. Granted, this is still, indisputably, a buyer's market. But for shoppers on a tight budget out there hunting for new construction, how much home can $200,000 — often considered the benchmark entry-level price — actually buy?

  7. Sicilian art coming to the Getty

SICILY, Italy — Two years ago, the J. Paul Getty Museum ended a lengthy dispute with Italian cultural authorities by returning a towering limestone and marble statue of a Greek goddess to Sicily. The sculpture is now the pride of the relatively modest Museo Archeologico in Aidone — and by far its biggest attraction.

  11. Barry County Small Business Owners Network sees growth, increased profit

CASSVILLE, Mo -- Businesses in Barry County are seeing some encouraging results of a partnership formed just one year ago. It's not a new concept--help me, help you. In a time where budgets are tight for small businesses, and there isn't much room for advertising, a small business network can make a big difference.

  15. Review: Petra Schilder invokes another era at Carter & Citizen

Dutch artist Petra Schilder’s exhibition at Carter & Citizen revitalizes a mostly bygone way of life. In the intimate gallery, Schilder has painstakingly constructed a replica of a Dutch smuiger, or fireplace, out of hand-painted ceramic tiles. The tiles, which cover the wall from floor to ceiling, depict a farm landscape dotted with sheep. The hearth is flanked by two chairs holding piles of sheared wool in its raw state, and a chandelier loaded with lumpy brown candles hangs from the ceiling. The whole scene feels a bit like a diorama in a museum display, or an altar to an older way of life.

  19. Commentary: Aliso Creek should be left to meander

Seen from the air, the Mississippi snakes across the terrain in thousands of curves and loops. The landscape is dominated by circular and semicircular arcs, the remains of old meanders. Cutoff loops become ponds or lakes. A river's length and shape are...

  23. House's renovation takes decades off its age
