  17. My Little Mall Rats

Saturday night I went along with the women in my life, my wife and two daughters to The Woodlands Mall.  My oldest daughter needed some sort of special tote bag to carry her school books in, you know the expensive kind. So, we parked and entered the mall through Macy's. It was at the moment we left the anchor store and entered the mall area that I witnessed a transformation in all three girls into what can only be described as laser eye shopping mall pros completely at home in their element. It was a little strange actually. We entered the mall and conversation virtually ceased. Each female separated herself from the other, (and me) as we marched the corridor, each one leaving a good five foot perimeter around herself, perhaps increasing each individual's bargain scouting viewpoint. The girl’s faces took on a look I hadn't seen before. A combination of maturity, confidence and an air of nonchalance as to warn any approaching kiosk barkers not to bother with their sales pitch. Again, no talking, I felt I had joined a veteran search team and I was the only one who didn't know what I was supposed to be looking for!
