  1. Dr. Phillips runner Bridget Blake advances to Foot Locker Nationals

    <em>Dr. Phillips senior <strong>Bridget Blake</strong>, the three-time Class 4A state girls cross country champion, qualified for the Foot Locker Nationals on Dec. 8 in San Diego by placing sixth in the South Region meet Saturday in Charlotte, N.C. Blake finished the five-kilometer (3.1-mile) race in 17 minutes, 12 seconds, seven seconds behind winner <strong>Sophie Chase</strong> of Burke, Va. DP&rsquo;s <strong>Amber Johnson</strong> placed 29th in 18:07, and <strong>Ashley Heitling </strong>of Mount Dora finished in 19:46. On the boys side, Colonial&rsquo;s <strong>Andres Arroyo</strong> was 33rd in 15:32, and Timber Creek&rsquo;s <strong>Brandon Marquez </strong>was 40th in 15:37. Arroyo and Marquez finished 1-2 in the 4A state boys race last weekend in Tallahassee. The top 10 finishers advanced to nationals.</em>
