  13. Jordan Nagai, 'Up'

Director Pete Docter knew he would have to be resourceful in getting shy Jordan Nagai to laugh on cue for his role as a Wilderness Explorer named Russell in Disney/Pixar's animated "Up," which opens Friday. "First, I think we said, 'Think of something really funny, and you kind of went 'ha, ha, ha,' " Docter reminded the 9-year-old Nagai during a recent interview. "I remember at one point, I picked you up upside-down and tickled your tummy and said, 'Say the line.' You were really laughing."

  17. The literary antecedents of 'Up'

The title of the new Disney/Pixar movie "Up," as well as its signature image of a house floating beneath thousands of tethered balloons, reminds us how frequently the theme of Lightness appears in children's literature. From Mary Poppins to Peter Pan, from Tarzan swinging on vines to Harry Potter scooting on his broomstick, children's stories seem to feature the quick, the lithe and the aerial. Maybe that's not surprising. While adults seem earthbound, youngsters zoom by on skateboards or jump from heights as caped incarnations of Superman.

  19. First look: 'Hangover' down only 26%, 'Pelham' so-so, 'Imagine That' DOA

Evolving from a strong opener to one of the summer's biggest movies, <a href="http://movies.zap2it.com/movies/the-hangover/192248"><b> "The Hangover"</b></a> declined just 26% on its second weekend, the smallest such drop for any movie in wide release this summer. That's a sign of fantastic word-of-mouth and expanding interest among moviegoers who may have been initially skeptical about the R-rated comedy's appeal.

  23. 'Starting Point' gives a rare glimpse of acclaimed animator Hayao Miyazaki
