Tarzan is a heartwarming tale of a little boy who is raised by monkeys after his parents are murdered by a leopard, and strives for his primate father's acceptance. It seems though, that just as he is accepted he meets a girl, Jane, who helps him learn how to act like the human he was born. Through this exciting tale, University School of Nova Southeastern University brilliantly shows the struggle of combining two worlds into one family.
The set was absolutely sensational, and it was apparent that each actor knew the entire set inside and out. The flying system was top notch and the actors utilized it fantastically, especially during the transition stage between young Tarzan to old Tarzan, and Terk's song. Sound was consistent; except for a few times when the mics" would cut in and out, which made the actors a little hard to hear at times. The make up for all the monkeys was very believable.
Charley Garcia was absolutely sensational as Tarzan, he kept in character throughout the whole show, and his transition from being a monkey to a man was so enjoyable to watch. Terk, played by Laura Galindo, was excellent to watch. She made every scene she was in come alive, especially "Who Better Than Me", and "Trashing The Camp". She portrayed the character fantastically, light-hearted and always entertaining. Ryan Juda (Kerchak) and Brittany Panzer (Kala) were absolutely outstanding, from their acting to their costumes and everything in between, their chemistry was brilliant, and their voices were positively tremendous.Their energy could be felt throughout the whole auditorium in every scene they were in, whether they were together or not. The Apes Ensemble and The Jammin' Jungle Orchestra were also awesome. There were some characters that were difficult to understand at times with their accents, and some lines were rushed. At some points the chemistry was off with a few actors, but most of the acting was consistant.
All in all, University School did a superb job with their portrayal of the classic Disney movie, Tarzan. It was very enjoyable to watch.
