What will local television be like AL (After Linda)?
In a little more than a week now, it will be possible to turn on the TV and not be immediately greeted by Linda approving a message disapproving of Chris Murphy.
There is going to be such a void in our lives.
I mean, Linda was on television so much she makes Bob's Furniture Bob look like a recluse.
She became like a member of the family, a cross between a kindly grandmother and an old aunt who gets cranky when she drinks.
Perhaps Linda could let us down slowly, maybe continue to run anti-Murphy ads after the election is over.
It's not like she can't afford it. Win or lose, Linda will have spent more money trying to get into the United States Senate ($77 million and counting) than anyone in history.
And it's not like there still aren't avenues to be explored about Murphy's late rent payments or her six-point plan.
You know, I don't claim to be an expert on six-point plans, but judging from the way Linda has promoted her 6-point plan, it must be one of the best six-point plans in the history of point plans.
I mean, I have visions of Linda winning the election and meeting Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and handing him a copy of her six-point plan and him reading it on the spot and then smacking himself upside his own head and saying:
"Wow, why didn't we think of this? We only had a five-point plan. We're going to drop everything else we are working on and propose your six-point plan. We'll call it the Linda McMahon Six Point Plan for America and we'll put you in charge of it."
Usually, of course, newly elected members of the Senate have about as much input as a page, but then usually freshmen don't have six-point plans.
OK, God's honest truth? This race can't be over soon enough.
Advice For GOP Candidates
There are two things that are always going to get a politician in trouble:
One is making a Hitler analogy.
The other, if you are a male Republican running for office, is talking about rape. The first rule in the GOP running-for-office play book should be this: Under no circumstances ever express your views on rape. Why?
Let Stephen Colbert explain: "Fellas, you may not be aware of this, but in 1920, women got the right to vote, and since then among likely voters, rape's approval rating has plummeted."
Trump Cements Status
If there was any lingering doubt, Donald Trump's big announcement this week establishes him as the undisputed clown prince of moguls. And we are talking about a group here that is overflowing with candidates.
