MARTINSBURG, W.Va.—Authorities are looking for a Martinsburg woman accused of attempting to rob another woman Monday outside a store in The Commons shopping center, police said Friday.
Deborah Ann Phipps, 33, was identified after another robbery occurred on Tuesday in Spotsylvania County, Va., and her photograph was obtained from video surveillance after she allegedly used a stolen credit card from that crime, Berkeley County Sheriff's Deputy Lt. Gary Harmison said in a news release.
Police have determined that the vehicle used in the attempted robbery and the Virginia robbery was a 2005 or 2006 Chrysler Sebring convertible with a possible Virginia or North Carolina registration beginning with "7T" or "T7," Harmison said.
Phipps has been entered into the National Crime Information Computer system as a wanted person, he said.
Police have said the suspect in the attempted robbery at the Martinsburg Michaels arts and crafts store was dressed in a red sweatshirt and black pants. She is estimated to weigh between 100 and 120 pounds, and her blonde hair was in a ponytail at the time of the incident, police had said.
Anyone with information on Phipps' whereabouts can contact Harmison at 304-267-7000, or their local police department.
