Jane Elizabeth (Morgan) Burroughs, 92, of Van Nuys, Calif., died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at her Cedars Assisted Living residence in Northridge, Calif., while under the care of Skirball Hospice.
Mrs. Burroughs was born in Havre de Grace, Md., the elder daughter of the late Armean L. and Bernardine (Krider) Morgan. She was the widow of William D. Burroughs III.
She was a resident of Hagerstown during her childhood and early life, and was a 1938 graduate of Hagerstown High School.
A lifelong homemaker, she was an administrative assistant for 20 years with the Los Angeles Unified School District, and for another decade was parish secretary of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Van Nuys.
She was a 42-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, serving Ocean Park Chapter 245 as Worthy Matron three times, and the Grand Chapter of California as Grand Adah in 1991.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Burroughs, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and daughter, Debra Maiman, Woodland Hills, Calif.; grandsons, Joseph Maiman and Michael Maiman; granddaughter, Lauren Derryberry; and sister, Katherine "Trinkey" McGinley of Hagerstown.
Private internment at Inglewood Park Cemetery was held Nov. 27, 2012. Arrangements were by Funeraria del Angel Praiswater, Van Nuys.
A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Van Nuys, after the first of the year.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
