“I was wondering if anybody knows who to contact if you do not have very hot water in your apartment, that you can’t even take a shower, and that the kitchen sink’s water, you just put your hand under it, it doesn’t feel hot at all or anything. If anybody knows who to contact or how to go about it, please put it in Mail Call. It sure would feel good to get a good bath.”
— Hagerstown
“I like David Limbaugh. He only speaks the truth. For those who don’t like him, don’t read his column if you don’t want to know the truth. Stay in the blind, be stupid.”
— Smithsburg
“This is in reference to the sequestration, all the scare game by the FAA and the Washington politicians. Your $85 billion is equated over seven months. That’s $12 billion a month. That is nothing, in the budget. Cut out the foreign aid, and then first, cut out the $2.5 billion of free cellphones in America. Take notice, everybody.”
— Washington County
“If the city is making big money off the speed cameras, who’s making the most money? Well, of course, the camera company. In the city of Ocala, Fla., of 75,000, flashing lights at all schools, but no cameras. Why? If you’re caught speeding, your fine is doubled. Kids are safe in Florida. They should be the same in Hagerstown.”

“This is to the person that had X-ray and a cavity, and the dentist charged her $407. You should have got other estimates from other dentists. I’m sure they would have took you for a cheaper price, to have you as a customer. The way the economy is, you should have checked around. And there’s plenty of dentists around.”
— Keedysville
“In response to the Keedysville caller confused about gun control and airport security: The 9/11 terrorists used knives, not guns, a force multiplier against bare hands and feet, to kill 3,000, while airport security was virtually nonexistent — as school security is now. Bushmaster is no more responsible for Newtown, Ct., than Boeing or Airbus were (for 9/11).”

“Whatever happened to El Nino, and how it impacted our weather? Now, when it’s cold, it’s global warming. When it’s hot, it’s global warming. When it’s dry, it’s global warming. When it’s stormy and wet, it’s global warming. Did the inventor of the Internet, Al Gore, do away with El Nino?”
— Williamsport
“You all talk about how much it costs to keep the prisoners, you don’t put nothing in there if they’re indigent, every time they file an appeal, the taxpayers have to pay for their attorney, their court costs and everything, and that’s a lot of money.”
— Hagerstown
“I’m calling about some of the editorials. One is I am so sick of Allan Powell’s editorials. I’ve been putting up with them for the 22 years I’ve lived in this area, and this about separation of church and state, in Feb. 22, is an example of all his errors and misrepresentations and things. Somebody said why doesn’t Tim Rowland joke about Obama and Biden like he did on Sarah Palin, Feb. 13. There’s no chance. He’s really funny when he sticks to nonpolitical things, but he’s as liberal a Democrat as you’ll ever find. And Leonard Pitts, well, let me just say he’s ridiculous.”
— Hagerstown
“Regarding the Saturday, Feb. 23, Herald-Mail article concerning federal budget cuts, contrary to Obama, Mikulski, and other far-left liberal comments, the sky is not falling. The cuts amount to a 5 percent cut to domestic agencies and 7 percent to the military. For a $3.6-trillion-dollar budget, this $85 billion cut is 2.3 percent of total spending. This amounts to a cut of less than three cents of every dollar the government spends. President Obama has rejected every reform in entitlements that Republicans and the Simpson-Bowles commission have offered.”
