Participants were also treated to games, food, music and demonstrations from the police department. Blood pressure screenings were also available.
Salem Avenue plans back-to-school night
Salem Avenue Elementary will hold its meet the teacher night Thursday, Aug. 23. The time for students in kindergarten through second grade will be 5 to 5:30 p.m. Families are then asked to join the staff in the back parking area for a hot dog barbecue from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cafeteria will be used if the weather is bad. Students in third through fifth grade will visit their classrooms from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
The Salem staff is excited about the coming school year and hopes to see everyone there.
Heritage soccer players raise funds for uniforms
Heritage Academy soccer players Joshua Taggart, Collin Poyle, Tristan Prejean and Zach Muller recently modeled their uniforms, circa 1990s.
To raise funds for new uniforms, the team hosted a car wash Aug. 3 at Sears Automotive, 17316 Valley Mall Road. The team will also host a spirit night fundraiser at Chick-fil-A on Thursday, Aug. 23. For more information, call the school at 301-582-2600.
