On Oct. 19, members of the Antietam Creek Watershed Alliance, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and students completed stream restoration efforts in Sharpsburg by planting shrubs and willow stakes in the project area.

The vegetations’ root system will hold soil in place along the stream banks to prevent erosion into the waters.

The children represented Girl Scout Troops 40709 and 40051, Cub Scout Pack 252, Boy Scout Pack 51 and students from Boonsboro Middle and Boonsboro High School.

The alliance was able to fund the project through a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust.
