The competition features work by photographers from the region.
This year’s exhibition is sponsored by Conservit Inc. and The Columbia Bank — Hagerstown Trust Division.
Judging took place Dec. 18 with judge Regina DeLuise selecting 66 photographs from the 421 entries.
DeLuise is the chairwoman of photography at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
In conjunction with the competition, an exhibition of DeLuise’s photography will be on view in the Baer Gallery from Jan. 26 to April 14.
The public is invited to the opening reception and awards ceremony Sunday from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Award winners will receive their prizes and light refreshments will be offered by the museum’s volunteer organization, the Singer Society. Visitors to the exhibition are invited to vote for their favorite photograph in the Popular Prize Award, sponsored by FirstLook Photo of Hagerstown. The winner of the award will be announced at the close of the exhibition.

Baker to give Civil War lecture
“The War You Might Have Overlooked” will be presented by Tamela Baker Thursday Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. at Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.
Baker will be featured as the sixth of 11 speakers in the yearlong Civil War lecture series presented by the museum. The lectures are offered in conjunction with the museum’s headline exhibition, “Valley of the Shadow,” commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
Dinner will be served in the museum’s Kaylor Atrium at 6 p.m., followed by the lecture in the Museum’s Bowman Concert Gallery at 7 p.m.
The lecture is sponsored in part by a Maryland Heritage Areas Authority grant and M&T Bank.

Baker, editor of America’s Civil War magazine and a past editor of Hallowed Ground, the official publication of the Civil War Trust, has served as a volunteer at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park.
Lions Club
Tuesday — Roxanne Ober, from PIA, will give the club a PowerPoint presentation about the aviation maintenance school in Hagerstown.
Sight report — Lions Club member Pol Heiney reported that 189 pairs of glasses and 68 cases were collected during the past month.
