Does IVC call for obsolete books?

My grandson is attending Imperial Valley College. Last semester he had to buy a computer book titled “Discovering Computers 2011.” He was informed this book cannot be sold back to the bookstore because last semester was the last year this book was required. Why is IVC selling soon-to-be outdated books when they know a new book will be replacing the old book? Some students’ families are on a short budget and have a problem buying books every semester. Is the idea of having a for-rent book section possible in the future? I believe this can help current and future students in attending classes. — Grandpa, Calexico
