U.S. Customs and Border Protection Deputy Commissioner David V. Aguilar and Border Patrol Chief Michael J. Fisher have announced the selection of Carla Provost as the new chief patrol agent for the El Centro Sector U.S. Border Patrol, according to a press release.
Provost has served in a wide variety of supervisory, management and leadership positions throughout the southwest border region during her 18-year career.
Provost received a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology and criminal justice at Kansas State University, as well as a Master of Science degree in national resource strategy from Industrial College of the Armed Forces at the National Defense University in Washington, D.C.
Before working in U.S. Border Patrol, she served for several years as a police officer in the Riley County Police Department in Manhattan, Kan.
Provost entered on duty with U.S. Border Patrol on Jan. 8, 1995 at the Douglas Station in the Tucson Sector and earned several promotions while there, eventually named as assistant chief patrol agent of the Yuma Sector in March 2006.
She became patrol agent in charge of the Wellton Station in the Yuma Sector in January 2009 and was selected to the senior executive services position of deputy chief patrol agent of the El Paso Sector.
Provost replaces former sector Chief Patrol Agent Jeffrey Calhoon who has retired from the position after serving it since 2007.
