DALLAS—She's a global traveler, career woman, trendsetter and mother. How does Pink Tartan Founder do it all while looking so chic? Kimberley Newport started Pink Tartan and says, "I think every woman should feel comfortable in what they wear, and forces themselves a little out of their element. Because it's about trying new things and fashion changes, so it's about not being afraid of it."
We met up with her at Nieman's where she shared her secrets to dressing appropriately during the work day, and how to transition to dinner effortlessly. I asked Kimberley, "Nothing looks more schleppy than a woman stands up and the back of her blazer is creased. So what fabric do you use to prevent that?" ANd she says, " like double face crepe... What I'm wearing is double face crepe and like I said it really is durable because of the construction of the fabric and I think that's really important." She suggests an easy way to pull it off is with a little black dress. Kimberley says, "I like clothes that are sophisticated but have a feminine touch to them." Slip off the blazer, pumps and scarf, add blingy necklace and rocking heels and you're ready for the night!
I asked, "Kimberley, every woman wants to look casual and fun on the weekend, but how do you do it right?" She says, "I think this is a great look for the weekend because it's sporty, she's carrying a sport bag, flip flop and she's wearing this hand stitched rosette t-shirt dress, belted."
Lose the belt, add a chunky necklace, and darken lipstick for nighttime chic.
I ask, "This is adorable. Where would she wear something like this?" And Kimberley says, "I love it when you're traveling, I love it to go shopping in the day, I love it for work. And the ballet flat is so hot and comfortable. It's got a Bridget Bardot feeling." Slip on a sequence knit jaclet and pumps and hit the town by evening! Take Kimberley's style tips and you'll always look ready, for any meeting or party!
