Rodney King's fiancée made a frantic 911 call after finding him at the bottom of his pool.
Cynthia Kelley described how she discovered King's body saying, "He's not moving, he's at the bottom of the swimming pool. I don't know, I was asleep."
Kelley says she couldn't jump in after King because she can't swim, but tried throwing a shovel into the water to wake him up.
Police eventually pulled his lifeless body out of the water, but after failed attempts to revive him, King was declared dead at a California hospital.
King was 47.
Rodney King gained national attention when his beating by Los Angeles police officers was caught on camera in 1991.
It sparked one of the deadliest riots in American history after the officers were acquitted.
