The London 2012 Olympics have come and gone. And while some won and some lost, some are coming home winners. Like local boxer, Marlene Esparza.
Esparza is a Pasadena native and graduate of Pasadena High School. She won a bronze medal in women's boxing and made history with a record run of national championships. She was also the first American woman to qualify for boxing at the Olympics. And the first woman to ever get an Olympic medal in the sport.
On Tuesday, the Pasadena community welcomed Esparza back with open arms and gathered at Pasadena City Hall to honor her.
Esparza was even given a key to the city.
