VICTORVILLE, Calif. (KTLA) -- A U-Haul truck collided with a school bus carrying 40 children in Victorville, injuring 16 of the students.

The accident happened shortly after 2 p.m. Thursday as the children were riding home from Galileo Academy.

A woman was backing up a U-Haul truck from her driveway onto Nisqually Road, and she pulled into the path of the bus, according to the CHP.

The impact knocked the school bus over onto its side.

Two students on the bus sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

The bus driver and 10 other students suffered minor injuries. Four students were treated at the scene and released.

Nisqually Road was closed for a time in both directions from 1st Ave. to 3rd Avenue.

The California Highway Patrol is conducting the investigation.
