UCLA's basketball team is already short-handed, and things may get worse.
Freshman Shabazz Muhammad is expected to miss practice Tuesday with a gastrointestinal illness, UCLA announced in a statement. His availability for Wednesday's game against USC is unknown.
The Bruins played without Travis Wear, their third-leading scorer, against Arizona State on Saturday. Wear is working through the concussion protocol and has not been cleared to play.
Muhammad leads UCLA in scoring, averaging 18.2 points a game.
UCLA has only eight scholarship players, counting Muhammad and Wear.
