EAST JORDAN -- The Charlevoix County Community Foundation recenlty appointed two new trustees, Michelle Cortright and Paul Witting.
Cortright, of Boyne City, is president and CEO of Harbor House Publishers, Inc. An active member of the community, Cortright currently serves as an Evangeline Township trustee, a director of The Bank of Northern Michigan and a member of the board of directors of the Boyne City Main Street DDA, Boyne City EDC and Northern Community Mediation.
In addition to serving on the foundation's board of trustees, Cortright will also serve on the foundation's distribution committee, which oversees the organization's grant-making activities.
"I'm so pleased to be a part of the Charlevoix County Community Foundation's future, and I'm looking forward to working with the other trustees to continue to grow the foundation's capacity in the years ahead," she said.
Witting, of Charlevoix, worked in business for more than 30 years. Working primarily in sales and marketing, Witting retired as the senior vice president of marketing with Steelcase, Inc., in Grand Rapids.
He is active in the community, serving as a member of the board of directors of the Lake Charlevoix Association, and also as a member of the Lions Club of Charlevoix.
"I'm just delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve the community foundation," he noted, adding, "I've long-admired the foundation's work in the community, and look forward to being a part of that effort."
Like Cortright, Witting will also serve on the foundation's distribution committee.
"Michelle and Paul are committed and well-intentioned community citizens, and the community foundation will benefit from their skills and participation," said Valerie Snyder, chair of the Charlevoix County Community Foundation's board of trustees.
Including the new appointments, the foundation's board of trustees includes 13 members, representing all regions of Charlevoix County. Other trustees include: Connie Wojan and Don Spencer of Beaver Island; Hugh Conklin, Jim Howell and Rachel Swiss of Boyne City; Dave Leusink, Linda Mueller and Valerie Snyder of Charlevoix; Fay Keane, John Kempton and Barbara Malpass of East Jordan.
The Charlevoix County Community Foundation is a grassroots charitable organization made up of various funds -- all of them established by local donors. Some funds are earmarked for specific causes, and others are open-ended to meet changing needs. The funds are held in permanent endowment, so they can continue to grow and generate income to enhance the quality of life in Charlevoix County, now and for generations to come.
