Birth

A daughter, Olivia Marie Ingalls, was born to Shavonne and Jeff Ingalls of Alanson 7:51 a.m. Jan. 14, 2012, at Northern Michigan Regional Hospital. Olivia weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 20 inches long at birth. She has a brother, Matthew Robert Ingalls. Grandparents are Richard and Alice Dunkel of Petoskey, and Daniel and Cynthia Ingalls of Rapid City.

Volunteer to coach golf.The First Tee of Boyne Highlands is a nonprofit youth development organization offering golf and life skills programs to youth ages 5 to 17. First Tee is looking for a volunteer coach for young golfers. Responsibilities of the volunteer coach include the teaching of golf, mentoring participants and serving as a positive role model. Hardcover books in good condition can be donated to Friendship Centers of Emmet County, Council on Aging, for use in its library. Books can be dropped off at the senior center, 1322 Anderson Road, Petoskey.

The Women's Resource Center needs volunteers to work at its safe home and Gold Mine Resale Shop. If you are available and would like to give even a few hours per month, contact Jamie Winters at (231) 347-1572.

The Petoskey Friendship Center's loan closet offers a wide variety of gently-used durable medical equipment for those facing surgery, illness, or long-term health conditions. The program is currently in need of wheelchairs, bedside commodes, toilet risers, shower chairs, bath benches, and wheeled walkers. If you would like to donate your clean, well-cared-for items, stop by the Petoskey Center at 1322 Anderson Road. A receipt for your donation will be provided.

 The Gold Mine Resale Shop of the Women's Resource Center has two Petoskey locations, 1002 Emmet St. and1878 U.S. 31 North.¿Both stores accept donations of gently used furniture, household items and clothing and are open from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.¿ Volunteers are also needed.¿Call (231) 347-3970 for additional information.
