1. Maryland support for veterans is iffy, at best

I have observed that Gov. Martin O'Malley, Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller and House Speaker Michael E. Busch seem to rush to be in the front row when the cameras are clicking ("New Maryland law aimed at helping veterans land jobs," April 18). Any efforts to enhance the job opportunities for returning military veterans are wonderful.

  3. Maryland, the state that 'taxes anything that moves'

Regarding your article about the $5,600 Maryland spent on security for Gov. Martin O'Malley's visit to the Super Bowl, why couldn't Mr. O'Malley have stayed at the governor's mansion with his two tax buddies, House Speaker Michael Busch and Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, and watched the game there?

  5. O'Malley's success echoes Mandel's 1972 triumph

Forty-one years ago, Maryland Gov. Marvin Mandel pulled off a series of staggering triumphs that The Sun compared to winning the Triple Crown: Maryland's first gun-control law; a unique, state-run auto insurance agency; and a higher gasoline tax to support Baltimore's first rapid rail line.

  7. The passage of the governor's 'sweeping agenda' shows how out of touch legislators are

There was a photo caption in the Sunday Sun article ("Landmark Measures for Maryland" April 7) about Senate President Mike Miller, House Speaker Michael E. Busch and Gov. Martin O'Malley. The caption stated that "When the three of us are on the same page," according to the governor, it would result in the passage of the governor's "sweeping agenda."

  9. Progressive O'Malley gets his wish list

If the longstanding rumors are true and Gov. Martin O’Malley really does have his sights set on a presidential nomination, the 2013 legislative session could go a long way toward solidifying his liberal qualifications for a Democratic primary electorate.

House Speaker Michael E. Busch said a compromise bill intended to reverse a court decision singling out pit bulls as an "inherently dangerous" breed died on the House floor because it just didn't have the votes. It is extremely rare for a conference...
