RAPID CITY, S.D. - Senator John Thune held a town hall meeting Monday to discuss the economic problems our nation is facing.
The senator said that, in short, America faces a debt crisis. He says Congress must take opportunities to enact meaningful spending reform but not by increasing taxes.
Thune says what our country needs the most is more economic growth through creation of new businesses or expanding others.
Thune says, "I think right now it's really important for Congress to focus on getting spending under control, fiscal discipline and then also to focus on policies that will promote economic growth to get the economy expanding again and when the economy is expanding and growing the fiscal issues seem much smaller by comparison. "
Thune says the economic struggles of the country will continue unless Washington addresses the issue of out of control spending.
