Gourmets with some bucks to drop on a party can feast on the same meal President Barack Obama and members of Congress enjoyed at the luncheon immediately following the president’s inaugural speech.
Davie's Tastebuds Catering has added the three-course, nine-dish meal to its menu – including the steamed lobster with New England clam chowder sauce, the hickory-grilled bison and the Hudson Valley apple pie.
It costs $185 per person. But there’s a catch. The price doesn’t include any of the wines, a merlot, a dry Riesling, and a champagne.
“It’s an extraordinary menu that makes my mouth water,” caterer Rachel Gebaide said in a statement.
Here’s the New York Times account of how U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., made sure the menu was as New York as possible, including the Hudson Valley apple pie with sour cream ice cream, aged cheese and honey maple caramel sauce, which had 23 New York ingredients.
Here’s the full menu that Tastebuds Catering will supply:
First course:
Steamed Lobster with New England Clam Chowder Sauce
Sautéed Spinach
Sweet Potato Hay
Second course:
Hickory-Grilled Bison with Red Potato Horseradish Cake and Wild Huckleberry Reduction
Butternut Squash Purée
Baby Golden Beets and Green Beans
Strawberry Preserve and Red Cabbage
Third course:

Artisan Cheeses
The wines, not included:
Tierce Finger Lakes Dry Riesling (2010)
Korbel Natural, Special Inaugural Cuvée California Champagne
