1. Mark Gonzales' White Sox mailbag

When is MLB going to realize that they have to start preparing for a baseball expansion in Mexico and Cuba? They are opening next year in Australia but it would be so much better for both this country and Cuba to open in Havana. -- Charles Schwarz,...

3. Nothing to see here, Lakers fans

A compilation of all of the Lakers' postmortem material recently published in your paper would read something akin to "War and Peace." Hey, they had a rough season, they have some decisions to make and the future is uncertain. Enough said.

5. Giants' success more than following lucky stars

Before they became the best organization in baseball, the Giants were Barry Bonds' team. They seemed unable to break free from the flawed slugger for a long time, sticking with the disgraced star for six years after his record-setting 2001 season.

9. Reader Q&A: Mark Gonzales' White Sox mailbag

Ken Williams has the enviable position of seemingly being the only Chicago executive immune from the pressure to win and perform. In recent years we have seen all the Chicago franchises clean house. The Chairman needs to pocket his loyalty and let Williams go and bring in a new philosophy. I don't mean elevating Rick Hahn, either. There is a reason Hahn is still with the Sox. Frankly, I'm tired of hearing how wonderful is everyone in the Sox's organization. The chamber of commerce pitch delivered by those such as Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone and others is insulting to knowledgeable fans. How many more years do Sox fans have to tolerate more of the same? How many more years does Williams get? -- Mike Major; Granger, Ind.

11. Power rankings: No. 23 White Sox

Ozzieball was always a misnomer.
Ozzieball was always a misnomer. Taking their lead from the guy in the manager's office, White Sox marketing types and some of their more casual fans romanticized the Ozzie Guillen era as one of in-your-face baseball — aggressive baserunning,...
