1. Orioles need to change the script to continue this series

NEW YORK — The Orioles have done the improbable so many times this year that it would be foolhardy to assume that the odds are now stacked so high against them that they cannot get out of Yankee Stadium with their title hopes alive.

3. Jim Johnson's value goes beyond closing games for Orioles

ARLINGTON, Texas — Jim Johnson is on the move.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Jim Johnson is on the move. The new owner of the Orioles' record for saves in a season passes through the clubhouse with obvious intent, his eyes finding no others as he heads from one room to the next and — no doubt...

5. Are the Orioles getting left behind in the AL East?

If this is December, then there are a lot of Orioles fans who are wondering the same thing.
If this is December, then there are a lot of Orioles fans who are wondering the same thing. Why is it that every year at this time, the other American League East teams do their holiday shopping at Lord &Taylor and the Orioles seem to do most of...

7. Ripken turns tribute into celebration of current Orioles

It all seemed so right. The Orioles long ago chose Thursday night to unveil Cal Ripken's statue at Oriole Park because of the obvious connection to what happened here on the same date 17 years ago, but they could not have known it would be so perfectly timed to coincide with the re-emergence of the team as a late-season contender and the start of a huge four-game series against the Yankees.

9. All-Star Game 'counts' only if you're counting stupid

Listen up, stupid (and you know who you are, Bud Selig), using the All-Star Game to determine home-field advantage for the World Series becomes more idiotic every year.
Listen up, stupid (and you know who you are, Bud Selig), using the All-Star Game to determine home-field advantage for the World Series becomes more idiotic every year. Selig and Fox Sports tell us the game "counts," but sorry, the game cannot count...

11. For Orioles fans, silence from the Warehouse is deafening

Orioles fans, I don't blame you for being upset.
Orioles fans, I don't blame you for being upset. Here we are, the second week of January, and the silence from the Warehouse is deafening. Let's review what we have so far. No major moves to make this team better in 2013. No progress in the hunt for a...

13. Kevin Cowherd: Let's not spoil Orioles' fun by looking ahead to tough stretch

Just another day at Camden Yards, right? Another ho-hum, garden-variety 5-2 win Sunday, this time over the Oakland Athletics? OK, maybe not.
Just another day at Camden Yards, right? Another ho-hum, garden-variety 5-2 win Sunday, this time over the Oakland Athletics? OK, maybe not. Say what you will about this team and where it'll end up at season's end. But right now, you can't deny this: The...

15. Power rankings: No. 22 Orioles

No. 22 Orioles: 9th in a series counting down to spring training. Next: Mariners. The Orioles aren't hopeless. But it's difficult to imagine how they're going to restore the luster to this once-great franchise until Peter G. Angelos takes the first...
