1. A look at what Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome has done when he had nine or more draft picks to work with

The NFL will soon reveal which teams will be awarded compensatory picks for free agents lost last offseason.

3. Bears position analysis: Running back

There cannot be a player on offense who is more excited about the new Chicago Bears coaching staff than Matt Forte.
There cannot be a player on offense who is more excited about the new Chicago Bears coaching staff than Matt Forte. Forte always has considered himself a dual threat out of the backfield and new coach Marc Trestman has a proven track record for making...

5. Roster mismanagement could be Bears' downfall

The franchise of Walter Payton, Gale Sayers and Red Grange could become the attack of Kahlil Bell, Armando Allen and maybe even Harvey Unga on Sunday at Detroit.

7. Ravens news, notes and opinions

The Ravens had 13 players not participating in any part of practice Saturday and another two (tight end Ed Dickson and linebacker Darry Blackstock) who didn’t finish the workout because of injuries. The potentially season-ending Achilles tear to linebacker Terrell Suggs was the biggest blow obviously, but the loss of practice time for first or second-year players like Bernard Pierce (hamstring), Tandon Doss (hamstring), Jah Reid (calf), Courtney Upshaw (shoulder) and Jimmy Smith (back) shouldn’t be overlooked. Upshaw is the only one on the list that was a near certain starter, though Smith is competing with Cary Williams for a starting role. But the rest of the above-mentioned group figure to, at the very least, be key reserves. Ravens coach John Harbaugh does a great job not publicly fixating or fretting about injuries, but I’d have to imagine the coaching staff is getting anxious with how much practice time these guys are missing. The good news is Upshaw says he is real close to a return and Doss said that he expects to practice today.

11. Bush fits Bears with or without Forte

Perhaps the reason Matt Forte is so sensitive to sharing the meeting room, shower area and backfield with Michael Bush is he knows Bush can be more than just his caddie.

13. Forte seems petulant as contract talks drag on

We all should be so disrespected that our employer pays us $7.7 million.
We all should be so disrespected that our employer pays us $7.7 million. Poor Matt Forte. Because of the NFL franchise tag guaranteeing Forte such a paltry salary next season, the pouty Bears running back might not have enough money to pay his team of...
