3. Pre-snap read: Ravens-Texans

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m rested and feeling good after the bye week. Ditto for the Ravens as they head into Sunday’s game against the 3-2 Houston Texans, though the Ravens aren’t as healthy as they would like. A few key Ravens have been ruled out for the game, but the injury bug bit the Texans harder. Houston will be without Mario Williams, its best defender, and Andre Johnson, one of the best receivers in the NFL.

  7. The Ravens' receiver plan sure blew up in their faces, didn't it?

In a recent item on Pro Football Talk, Mike Florio wrote that the Ravens' free-agency gamble -- releasing veterans Willis McGahee, Todd Heap, Derrick Mason and Kelly Gregg -- blew up on them. Each player opted to sign elsewhere instead of staying here at a reduced rate, leaving the Ravens looking for replacements.

  11. Five Things We Learned in the Ravens 31-24 win over the Bengals

    1. Say what you will about John Harbaugh -- and this week, plenty of Ravens fans had negative things to say -- but he has three undeniable strengths as a head coach. He gets his players to buy into the larger concept of TEAM. He holds them together through turmoil. And he does a nice job of not losing sight of the big picture.

  15. Lardarius Webb excited about — not upset at — Jimmy Smith's arrival

For a playoff game lost with three wrenching third-quarter turnovers by the offense, Lardarius Webb took an inordinate amount of blame in January.

  17. Steve Smith reportedly wants to play like a Raven this season

The Ravens addressed the wide receiver position in April's draft with the selection of Torrey Smith and Tandon Doss, adding those two to a group that includes Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason and second-year receiver David Reed. They also learned last year that you can, in fact, have too many aging, outspoken wideouts.
