3. Eagles are in position to overhaul roster — or not

— Every year in the Joe Banner/Howie Roseman era, the Eagles have been aggressive during the season, usually in the bye week, with contract extension offers to those they've determined they'd like to lock up at a discount for half a decade or more.

5. Eagles' final grades not for faint of heart

— Thankfully for the Philadelphia Eagles, the countless guilty parties behind this recently completed 4-12 catastrophe don't have to bring this final report card home for their parents to sign. Because if they did, there would be hell to pay....

13. Monday Morning Quarterback: Defense will have to carry Eagles the rest of the way

Eagles Insiders
After five games, it's time to break out two of the most annoying cliches in the history of cliches when assessing the state of the Philadelphia Eagles' offense. So if you're easily offended, turn your head now. Ready? Here goes:......

23. More on the Eagles' wide-nine defensive alignment

I apologize in advance for my fascination with the "wide-nine" alignment that the Philadelphia Eagles will often use on defense Sunday, but if you are as curious about it as I am, then you probably won’t mind me expounding on it a little further on the blog. And if you’re not as curious, maybe this stat will pique your interest: The Eagles were first in the NFL with 50 sacks in 2011, and they did it by rushing just four players 82 percent of the time, according to the fine folks at Football Outsiders. Trent Cole and Jason Babin combined for 29 of those sacks.
