Kirk Cameron, star of the 80s sitcom Growing Pains, speaking at Immanuel Baptist Church in Wichita (Casey Siebels, FetchToto.com Editor / May 18, 2012) |
In the late 80s and early 90s, Kirk Cameron broke young girl’s hearts around the world when he starred as Mike Seaver in the hit sitcom, “Growing Pains.” However, in more recent years, Cameron has turned his focus away from the Hollywood spotlight and towards enlightening people on religion.
On Friday, May 18, Immanuel Baptist Church welcomed Kirk Cameron as their guest speaker. Cameron spoke on behalf of the “Love Worth Fighting For” tour, a tour that is designed to encourage and strengthen marriage in couples.
Cameron was accompanied on stage with musical guest Warren Barfield, who sung a few uplifting songs prior to Cameron’s speech. Barfield is most recognizable as the singer of “Love Is Not A Fight,” a song which was featured in the Cameron’s movie Fireproof.
Before speaking of the personal and spiritual aspects of marriage and relationships, Cameron threw a little comedy into his speaking engagement when he dressed up like his “Growing Pains” character and performed a short performance as the young Mike Seaver. The crowd even got into the routine when they were asked to sing the sitcom’s theme song, "As Long as We Got Each Other."
The “Love Worth Fighting” tour will be making 35 stops across the country including events in Texas, New York, Michigan, Virginia, New Jersey and Kansas. Tickets range from $20 to $35 each and are available as reserved seats or general admission for singles, couples and groups of 10 or more.
