Toto has ten, yes that’s right… TEN events for you to try out this weekend! Interested in going to a family-friendly event that the kiddos will enjoy? Why not take them to a circus, historical museum exhibit, or on a wild ride through our solar system’s wildest weather.

Adults can gather ideas for home remodeling at the Wichita Home Show, burn off calories in a couple’s race, or take a trip to some of Wichita’s most haunted buildings.

Want to help others out this weekend? Take a walk for MDA, party at a Mardi Gras celebration for YMCA Women’s Crisis Center, socialize at a black-tie event for Old Cowtown’s Youth Education Program, or attend an Indian Powwow for the American Indian Festival.

1)      Midian Shrine Circus

Why you should go: The circus is rolling into town. The Midian Shrine Circus will be at the Hartman Arena Thursday through Sunday.

The Midian Shrine Circus will be wowing crowds with an entourage of trapeze artists, daredevil acts, Krazy Klowns, big furry cats, elephants, and much more. The famous 3 ring circus show will bring 8 performances packed full of action and entertainment.


2)      Cupid’s Combo – 5 Miles of Lovin’

Time:  10:00 a.m.
Date: Saturday, February 11
Where:
 Lewis Street Bridge by the Hyatt downtown Wichita, 400 West Waterman, Wichita, KS

Why you should go: Interested in running a relay race with your Valentine’s sweetheart this weekend? The Cupid’s Combo is a race that will allow two runners participate in a relay race around downtown’s Arkansas River. The race will start and end under the Lewis Street Bridge and each runner will loop around the river completing 2.5 miles.

Don’t have a “sweetheart” or partner to run with but still want to participate? No problem! Solo participants will run two loops around the river for a total of 5 miles.

Weather won’t be canceling this event either. The race will take place even if there’s rain, sleet, or snow. All pre-registered participants will receive a long sleeve t-shirt and awards will be rewarded.


3)      13th Annual YWCA Mardi Gras Celebration

Time:  7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Date: Saturday, February 11
Where:
 Hyatt Regency, 400 E. Waterman St., Wichita, KS
Cost:
$80 per person ($50 tax deductible)

Why you should go: Come out and support a great cause… Mardi Gras Style! There will be tasty Cajun fare, great wine and Bayou Swamp punch, face painters, party pictures, and a silent and live auction. Also, try out your dance moves to the live music of the Midwest’s Authentic Cajun & Zydeco Band.

The money raised from this event will go towards funding the services and programs of the YMCA Women’s Crisis Center and providing emergency shelter children and women seeking to flee domestic violence.


4)      Our Lives, Our Stories: America’s Greatest Generation

Dates & Time:  Exhibit open from January 29th – March 16th, 2012
Friday 11:00am to 4:00pm
Saturday – Sunday 1:00pm to 5:00pm
