  11. Rogers Park: Moving to its own beat

As owner of a Rogers Park print shop, Kathleen Paluch once printed some T-shirts festooned with the slogan "Made in Rogers Park." When she and her husband Denis traveled, they often wore the shirts, which rarely failed to remind the Paluchs of the kinship folks all over seem to feel for this far North Side Chicago neighborhood.

  13. At Katsu, a quarter century of sushi as theater

Of the few remaining ways to get your mind blown nowadays, my preferred manner of inserting the TNT is to sit three feet away from Katsu Imamura.

    It's just $100, but there's a lot of symbolism in that $100.
It's just $100, but there's a lot of symbolism in that $100. May's 0.1 percent year-over-year gain in the median sales price of existing homes in the nine-county Chicago area broke a 49-month losing streak that stretched to April 2008. The last time they...

  19. PennDOT reports numerous local road closures

At the request of the Pennsylvania State Police, PennDOT has closed Route 11 just south of Route 233 in Cumberland County. Route 11 runs along the boundary between West Pennsboro and Penn townships. This portion of Route 11, which carries a little more than 3,700 vehicles on a daily basis, will likely remain closed for several days. The closure is necessary because of concern about a silo on a farm along Route 11 that appears to be leaning and may be in danger of falling onto nearby power lines and the road. Arrangements are underway to address the situation.

  23. Greenup Hits, So Does Pollen

Greenup -- the great, silent collective explosion of freed tree buds that had been frozen all winter like a clenched fist -- happened last week in Interior Alaska. I know this because it’s a phenomenon that’s easy to notice here in Fairbanks, which is locked up in black-and-white for much of the year. And because Rick Thoman just told me.
