The Girls’ High Jump is back – Only nine times in the 41 years of the girls’ state track & field meet and not since 1998 had a girl high jumped 5’10” or better at the state meet, and only once (1981) did two girls clear that height during the same state meet, but while winning different classes. 11. Emotions run high on second day of State Track Meet

When Bishop Carroll athletes run in distance events, it is usually a tactical and patient race. On Saturday, that went out the window for all three Golden Eagle runners as David Thor chased the Class 5A record of 4:16.60 that was set by Jason Goertzen of Salina South back in 1986.

  17. Scott City wins the 3-2-1A State Wrestling Championship in Hays

Scott City pretty much dominated Class 3-2-1A team race, out pointing second place Hoisington by 14.5 points to take home the team title. The Beavers had more wrestlers in the state finals than any other school, three. They only got one state title out of the deal, from Luke Hayes at 285, but the two seconds and a pair of fifths was more than enough to give them the title.
