Browne's Irish Market Place: Shepherd's Pie
Meat Filling:
make bisto gravy per directions or your favorite beef gravy. add
Meat Filling:
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup peas, frozen
- 1-2 medium carrots, shredded
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- Brown hamburger in skillet with onion and carrots
- salt and pepper to taste
- drain and add peas
make bisto gravy per directions or your favorite beef gravy. add
- 2T HP Sauce (or substitute steak sauce)
- 1/4 cup red wine
- mix in with ground beef
- 1 pound Yukon Gold (or butter potatoes)
- 1/4-1/2 stick KerryGold butter
- 1/4 cup warm milk
- Scrub potatoes
- Boil with or without skins
- drain and cook off excess water
- uses potato masher, adding milk, butter, salt and pepper
- In pie plan or glass baking dish (engrossed)
- spread out meat mixture
- spread potatoes over top
- bake in oven at 350 for 20 minutes
- last 5 ins, top w/shredded cheddar cheese and chives
