Matt Sapaula - Financial Tips
Minimize against risks Use your retirement money in a way that helps you avoid stock market losses. Old 401k plans should be rolled into an IRA. Call former employers and gather all your 401k's.
Good time to refinance home
Interest rates will rise. This is a good time to refinance your house to lock in low interest rates. Contrary to that, use your ira to invest in real estate. The value of real estate may drop, which makes it a good time to buy.
Don't ignore your debt
Work out a plan with creditors.
Begin Personal Financial Pension
Don't count on your employer or Social Security checks to take you to the Promised Land.
Create your own business
Tap into the skills, talents and relationships we have to begin a consulting career or service business, direct sales or home-based enterprise. Not only is it more rewarding, it comes with added tax breaks.
Gold
It's a good, but trendy investment. Predictions suggest it will bottom out soon.

Tips:
Insects and Bites
Wear light clothing (bugs are drawn to dark colors), don't' wear perfume or heavily scented antiperspirants (they attract mosquitoes and other insects), wear long-sleeved shirts and tuck in your pant legs (doing so will prevent ticks from burrowing their way into your skin.) If you sustain a bug bite, use a bite treatment to alleviate itching and swelling. Over-scratching of insect bites can easily lead to infection, requiring a trip to the hospital.
Sun Protection
Make sure you look for a sunscreen that's at least SPF 15 and that protects against both types of rays. If you're unsure if it does, ask your pharmacist or family doctor.
Getting Lost in the Great Outdoors
Survival beings at home. Before you head out the door, make sure you:
Let someone -- a family member/friend/neighbor -- know exactly where you're going. Leave a detailed trip map and date you're due to return. If you don't show up, rescuers will know where to start looking.
Always camp, travel, hike with a friend -- there's strength in numbers, especially if one of you gets hurt.
Get your MacGyver on! -- Carry a survival kit with basic tools for building a fire (fire starter + tinder), navigation (compass) and signaling (rescue whistle and signaling mirror -- one that can be seen from at least 20 miles away)
Observe the 'Rules of Three' -- You can survive three hours in extreme temperatures, three days without water and three weeks without food. Prioritize accordingly -- make sure you carry shelter that reflects and retains body heat (emergency blanket), a means to purify water (water purification tablets or pump), instruments (fully functioning knife) for food gathering.
Don't forget the 'Bear Necessities' of avoiding and surviving Bear Attacks. Bear attacks are increasing in National Parks. Keep a keen eye out for signs of bears -- look for their tracks, bear scat, smell of decaying meat -- and hike elsewhere. Cook food a hundred feet from your campsite. When you're done cooking, store your food in a 'bear bag' and hang it safely from a tree. CARRY PEPPER SPRAY. There has been some success in thwarting bear attacks when people use pepper spray.
