TAMPA, FL—U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) addressed the Illinois GOP delegation in Tampa, Florida Wednesday morning.
Boehner told the group he believes republicans can make some gains in Illinois because of the state's economic problems under democratic party rule.
Paul Ryan delivers his speech Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
Ryan's speech is expected to focus more on personality and less on policy. Campaign staffers want voters to get to know Ryan's story about growing up in with small-town values and self-reliance. They believe working-class voters will relate to Ryan.
Ryan hopes to build upon the enthusiasm over Tuesday night's speech by Mitt Romney's wife, Ann, and the party's keynote address by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Mrs. Romney told her story of how she and her husband rose from a small apartment and a small income, to a life of success and wealth. Along the way they also raised five children and battled cancer and multiple sclerosis.
